Digital radiography is an essential tool for diagnosing many ailments and illnesses in your pet - as it has the ability to penetrate tissues and show your pet's organs and bones. Radiographs are images used to detect conditions such as broken bones, tumors, bladder stones, and foreign bodies (toys, bone, or articles of clothing) in your dog or cat's stomach. Digital radiographs also are useful for diagnosing heart and lung problems and can be used to evaluate cats and dogs for hip and elbow displasia. If it is suspected that your pet has a fractured bone, has swallowed a foreign object, or is suffering from an internal problem, an X-ray can likely provide us with the information we require.
Because X-rays are such a valuable diagnostic tool, Stuart-Anita Veterinary Clinics has invested in a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine. Our investment in digital X-ray technology reflects our commitment to offering a higher standard of care. There are many important advantages to digital X-rays:
- they are able to be viewed on a computer monitor within minutes - no more dip tanks
- the clear, detailed images can be manipulated so we can get a better view, leading to more accurate diagnosis
- they take less time to process, which means less time for your pet on the X-ray table (and less stress) and less waiting time for you
- no harsh chemicals are needed to develop the images, reducing potential harm to our staff and the environment
In the event that diagnosis is beyond our capabilities, we may offer you a referral to a specialist.
